Poker Night

It has become a weekly tradition for Jer to play poker with his guy friends on Wednesday nights. This has actually become a night that I look forward to. Not because I don't want to spend time with my hubby, but because poker night means I get to eat whatever I want for dinner and have complete control of the remote control for at least 3 hours. It's heaven. Tonight's TV agenda includes catching up on the past 2 episodes of Glee & American Idol, which will more than likely be accompanied by a glass (or 2 - let's be real) of wine.

I will also work on a blog post recapping our FABULOUS trip out to Naples last weekend for Easter. More to come on that, including pictures :)

Long Weekend

There is nothing better than a long weekend, especially when my office closes at noon today and observes Good Friday tomorrow. What's even better is that I get to spend this long Easter weekend with my parents in sunny, warm Florida! I haven't seen my parents since January, so it is a much needed visit. Looking forward to golfing (or trying to), laying on the beach, eating good food, drinking dirty martinis, and spending time with my family.

Happy Early Easter!

Teen Novels

I have to admit. When it comes to reading, I am a teenager stuck in the mind & body of a 27 year old. I absolutely loved the Twilight series. And have to admit, I can't wait for the 2-part Breaking Dawn movie.

My newest teen novel obsession? The Hunger Games series. Both my sisters read it and insisted that I give it a try. The first question I asked..."Is it as good as Twilight?" What am I, a "Twihard"? Embarrassing.

Anyways, I decided to give The Hunger Games a try, and I am hooked, already on the third book and don't want it to end.  It is such a quick and easy read (duh, it's for teens - ha!), and is super creative. The first book is The Hunger Games, followed by Catching Fire, then Mockingjay, which I plan to finish during my upcoming trip to Florida this weekend :)

Family

Living far away from my family is definitely hard, especially when there isn't a trip on the calendar to look forward to. I decided I couldn't wait until this summer to see Jen & Carson, so I booked a last minute trip to Chicago. And I am so glad I did!  Besides the wintery weather, the weekend was perfect.

A few highlights from the weekend include...

Renting movies our husbands would never watch
New shoe purchases - they were on sale!
Getting Carson's hair-cut
Countless escalator rides at Barnes & Noble
Lunch @ Tilly's
Teaching Carson to say "Auntie" - he mastered "T", which is close enough for me!
Morning snuggle time singing "The wheels on the bus..."
Eating in both nights, including pizza from Lou Malnati's (YUM!)
Reading books
Trying to capture funny & adorable moments on my iPhone...

 The Sheriff wearing Auntie's TOMS

Hair cut!

 Story time!

 Lunch @ Tilly's - I think Jen & I ate more of Carson's mac & cheese than he did :)

 Escalator ride(s)

This little rascal woke me up both mornings - best part of my day!

Countless hugs!

Better Gas Mileage

With gas prices getting higher and higher,  my good 'ole Jeep costed me over $70 to fill up this morning. Ugh. Which got me thinking... I think it's time to trade in the "gas guzzler" and look into something that gets better gas mileage. Going to start doing some research, starting by looking at a car/sedan vs. an SUV, leasing vs. purchasing. Thank goodness Jer is smart in this department, because I don't have a clue! We are actually meeting for lunch and going to take a look at a dealership this afternoon. Not going to rush into anything, but excited to go look!

Last Minute Trip

I decided to do some last minute trip planning. Next stop? The windy city to visit Jen and Carson! Ken will be out of town, so it will just be the three of us. I can't wait!!

Here are the plans so far...

play with toys
read books
go on walks
play at the park
teach Carson new words
just hang out!

I will make sure and post pictures following my trip. At the pace Carson is growing, the ones I currently have are ALREADY outdated! Until then, here are some of my favorites...him in his sheriff PJs IN the fridge (ha!), marinara mess (hence, no shirt!), and bath time!

Spring is Officially Here!

It was one of those weekends. Nothing but clear blue skies and everyone was ready to welcome the sunny spring weather! The weekend events included...

TMA's Mistake at the Plate - an all-day event at the Texas Ranger's opening day, including tailgating, beers, Bag-O, center field bleacher seats, and a $20 bill for refreshments at the game. Reason # 1,423,590 why I love working at TMA!

First crawfish boil of the season! Even though I am not a fan of  crawfish, you can't beat an afternoon on a patio with cold beers, live music, good friends!

Sunday up in Plano with the Mann family hanging out by the pool, playing the never-ending and always addicting 151 card game, and enjoying a delicious dinner of grilled chicken, ribs & corn on the cob.

All in all, a successful weekend!

Is it Friday yet?
