Birthday Dinner Date Night

Last night, Jer and I celebrated his birthday a few days early since we will be out of town for the actual day. The birthday dinner date night has kind of become a little tradition we have - the birthday boy/girl gets to choose the night and restaurant they want to celebrate at, and usually always ends with a bottle of wine and presents at home after.

This year, I suggested a new restaurant for us to try, and Jer willingly accepted. And I have to say, The Cedars Social was definitely worth the venture down to South Dallas!

The atmosphere and vibe was very retro/70's, complete with a prohibition theme. The drink menu was actually handed to us in a file folder...very cool.

Dinner consisted of sharing a few "small plates", including deviled eggs, short-rib sliders, scallops, & mac & cheese. At the birthday boys request, we ended the meal by splitting a burger with shoe-string fries. All in all, it was delish!

And of course, the night ended with a bottle of wine & presents at home...

...plus a little Bachelorette action :)

Summer Heat

June 21st might have been the official first day of summer for the rest of the country, but us Dallas-ites have been experiencing record breaking summer heat for at least a month now. Ugh. Check out the forecast for this week...it is almost nauseating.

The nights don't even cool down - the temps hang around in the high 80's, even low 90's. Even on windier days, it isn't a nice cool breeze. Nope. Instead, it feels like you are standing in front of a hair dryer. Gross.

This is one of the reasons why we couldn't be more excited for our upcoming trip to San Diego this weekend! Now this is the ideal summer forecast...warm and sunny during the day, a nice breeze off the ocean, cooling down in the evening.

Aside from perfect weather, we are THRILLED to be going to celebrate our friends Tiffany and Troy who are getting married on Saturday! I can already tell you that Tiff will be the most beautiful bride! More details and pictures to come following the wedding!

Secondly, we get to celebrate Jer's birthday in one of his favorite cities with some of his closest friends! Can't get any better than that!

New Do?

I have a hair appointment scheduled for next Thursday, and I am thinking about a new do...

Now, most of you who read this are going to jump to conclusions since you know how much I like Jennifer Aniston, but I swear it isn't because she has the hair cut, it's because I think it is cute and fun for the summer. Wonder if I will go through with it...

"T"

Thank goodness for video chat. Without it, I would go months without seeing my adorable little nephew & Godson, Carson. Thankfully, I get to see him through video chat almost every day! The people around me at work probably think I am nuts when I sing "Itsy Bitsey Spider" into my computer screen, but I don't care. It allows me to watch this little guy grow and learn, which seems to change daily! Better yet, he has learned to know who I am! Even though it's through the computer screen, he sees me and says, "T" (which is short for Auntie, obvi!) He even gives me kisses & hugs! For your viewing pleasure, here are some recent photos of the little tootie...

It's Friday, Friday, Friday!

Not only does Friday afternoon mean that the weekend is just a few short hours away, it also means that the The Marketing Arm's beer cart makes its rounds! There is nothing better than hearing tunes blaring from a boom box from down the hall, accompanied by the sound of clanking beer bottles and twisting off bottle caps. Today's song? Only the seemingly appropriate "It's Friday, Friday, Friday..."I usually cringe when I hear it, but since it was tied to a refreshing cold brewskie, I welcomed it with open arms. Happy Friday...Friday, Friday, Friday!!!

(The beer cart attendant enjoying a cold one himself!)

MAVS!

Being the last home game of the Mavs vs. Heat NBA Finals, Jer and I thought it would be fun to meet up with friends at a bar to watch the game. With the series being tied at 2-2, everyone was on the edge of their seats, anxiously awaiting for a W, putting the Mav's ahead as they head to Miami for the last 2 games.

From the first minute to the very last second, it was such an exciting game! One of those games that EVERY basket the Mavs scored, there were cheers, high fives & fist pumps. I was able to capture on video when the bar absolutely erupted when Jason the JET Terry (a U of A alum!) scored one of the last 3-pointers that put Dallas way ahead in the final minute of the game...

Looking forward to game 6 on Sunday!

Lift. Tone. Burn.

Why is it so easy to get out of shape and so dang hard to get back in shape?!

Personally, I let my busy work schedule get the best of me.

But it's time to make a change...

And with my friend Tiffany's San Diego wedding just a short 3 weeks away, I have the perfect motivation to get my butt back in shape (literally!)

So tonight, I am taking my first Pure Barre class! If you aren't familiar with Pure Barre, it's "a total body workout that lifts your seat, tones your thighs and burns fat in record-breaking time. Utilizing the ballet barre to perform small isometric movements set to fantastic music, Pure Barre is the fastest, most effective, yet safest way to change your body. Students see results in just 10 classes."

Here are a few snapshots from the Pure Barre website to give you a sneak peak into what I will be doing tonight from 5:30-6:30pm...

Looking forward to mixing up my routine and giving this class a try!
